ASTRA – Anti Trafficking Action is organizing a Conference on Human Trafficking for the Purpose of Labour Exploitation which will focus on the issues of workers’ rights, exploitation and improvement of the evidence base and policy in this arena, both in terms of prevention, detection and prosecution of offenders, and in the appropriate identification and treatment of victims of labour exploitation.
The conference will be held
in Belgrade, Serbia
on March 01 and 02 2012
Labour exploitation as a form of human trafficking has been on the rise in recent years, which is confirmed both by ASTRA SOS Hotline data and by the data from other relevant anti-trafficking actors in Serbia. The upward trend in the number of detected cases of labour exploitation has been recorded not only in Serbia, but also in the rest of the Europe.
The Belgrade Conference on human trafficking for the purpose of labour exploitation will gather participants from Serbia, Europe and Eurasia to discuss a variety of issues related to labour exploitation and human trafficking. During the conference, participants, ASTRA and partners will work together to formulate recommendations for policy advancement in this field.
The conference is organized in relation to the project “Make it work! – fighting trafficking and exploitation of workers” funded by the European Union within the Support to Civil Society Programme.
