Vip Donates 2 Million Dinars to Fight Against Human Trafficking
More than 1 Million Dinars gathered by Vip customers by sending SMS messages to the humanitarian short number 2001
Belgrade, 3rd of February 2012 – Company Vip mobile and its customers donated 2 million Dinars to a local NGO ASTRA which fights against human trafficking whereby Vip supported the efforts in solving this problem in our region.
Delivering a symbolic voucher, Thanasis Katsiroumpas, CEO Vip mobile reminded that the funds intended for purchasing of New Year’s gifts to business partners and employees are allocated to humanitarian purposes and pointed out that more than 1 Million Dinars were gathered thanks to Vip customers who joined this initiative by sending SMS messages to the humanitarian short number 2001.
“We are encouraged by the fact that a big company such as Vip joined the action for prevention of the human trafficking and for the improvement of the support to human trafficking victims, because we believe that nether the state or the Serbian society does not pay enough attention to this issue, regardless of its prevalence and consequences” said Marija Andjelković, President of ASTRA while thanking Vip for the donation.
The donation is intended for procurement of modern telephone exchange which will enhance the work of SOS line for human trafficking victims, as well as for procurement of service vehicle which will help ASTRA in directly aiding human trafficking victims all around Serbia. Also one part of donation will be allocated to building of a strong network of psychotherapists who will provide all necessary psychological assistance to human trafficking victims.
